Dreaming Into Infinity

Saturnian by Kancano

A mystical place here with gentle palette and formations suggestive of modern glassy architecture viewed through softly lit mist.  I find myself floating on a plane so fragile that if I had any weight, I would fall through and smash through this flimsy dream into an altogether different, stark reality.  I don't want to think too hard in case I wake up and find it was a mere figment of my imagination.

I am drawn to the light and wonder from whence it is sourced.  A pretty, spiky leaf-pattern flows from it through the soft greens of silk.  I touch the smooth texture of the material and feel safe.  I am held within its bounds, entranced by its pretty swirls, transfixed by the play of the light that seems to illuminate the pattern.  I stare at it and feel contented to remain here for a very long time.

Now the scene changes and I am drawn via the gnarly formations dancing all around me, towards the appearance of an infinite swirling centre.  This is a celebration, 'though a strange one with which I am unfamiliar, but I'm aware that others have gathered to enjoy it for centuries.  The muted colours appeal to me, and I see all kinds of birds, fish and other living creatures joining in, each leaping and frolicking in sheer abandonment to the occasion.  I travel onwards and inwards through the central formation...

Not knowing what to expect, I now discover more mystical looking creatures, also swirling around an off-centre vortex.  In contrast to the celebratory labyrinth through which I've just traveled, this one is hot and smoky and some of the ghostly beings I now see seem to take on a mocking appearance, whilst others appear to be fanning the flames and keeping the fires burning.  I sense there is a macabre type of enjoyment here - a different kind of celebration in progress.  I wonder why I'm here and whether this is because of something I've done.  Whilst the scene fascinates me, I'd rather move away and not become part of it, even though I'm not certain why...

Suddenly I become aware of a new focal point.  This one is very solid and metallic looking, spiky, shiny, and I imagine, cruelly harsh if I were to touch any of those sharp tips.  Yet it is compellingly attractive in its spiraling formation with its curious reflections - and I hope not to see my own there!  I keep my distance and don't wish to get pulled into its structure lest I perish.  Perhaps now is the time to wake up...
