Family tree, seat of learning, root of the problem... There seem to be several interpretations of this photo.

Sadly the tree has been cut down just above the top of the frame, but I found the roots and the proximity of the seat a compelling capture.

Shot with the very latest high-end compact camera, Nikon Coolpix P7100, which I have been comparing with my Canon G11. They compare very well in fact, and I have written a review of the comparison here [link] if anyone is interested. I did forget to say that processing time is roughly the same between the two cameras, whereas the predecessor P7000 was found to be very slow, particularly for RAW files.

This is really unique, very beautiful and really a source of thinking or meditation. I really like this Anna. I hope one day to discover all the possibilities of photography as an art.

Thank you very much! Funny thing was that many people looked, but didn't seem so keen on sitting there and instead chose a different place to sit! I of course, was rather pleased about that! :giggle:

I dont blame them really - The tree looks very alive and menacing , not to mention spooky lol I mean check those wild roots branching out .......... I would rather stand than sit there lol :)

Mind you, I'd love to have found some old chap full of character sitting there with an interesting tale to tell, who would let me take a photo with him in it...

Too much grass on the bottom ... amore rectangular version with less Grass gives greater emphasis on the Seat & Root construction ...

Interesting.. I cropped this according to the Rule of 3rds for maximum impact, but of course that doesn't always work the best. Thanks for your comment.
